It is time to FLY!

Bald Eagle in flight. Bald Eagle in flight.

It’s time to fly! Fly like an eagle! So a few weeks ago I was in Leicester at a women’s conference, for me it was the first of its kind that I have been to and I have to say it was really powerful and really moving spiritually.  This being said I thought I’d share with you all what was shared at this conference as I feel it will be helpful for everyone who is on a journey with Jesus Christ.

Theme bible verse: Deuteronomy 32:11 which says “As an eagle stirs up its nest, hovers over its young, spreading out its wings, taking them up, carrying them on its wings”.

It is said that in the bible, there are 34 distinct verses which compare or describe the children of God as eagles. Why does God compare us to eagles? God does not make mistakes so there has to be a reason as to why he compared us to eagles. Let’s explore this subject a bit more through the characteristics of an eagle compared to that of children of God.

An eagle is a bird which has no confusion about who it is. It separates itself from other birds. An eagle flies with other eagles. In this sense it is true what the world says, birds of a feather flock together. In this sense us as children of God are supposed to be separated. We are supposed to know who we are in the world and in Christ. We are not to be confused about who we are. Children of God should surround themselves with other children of God. You don’t see eagles flying with pigeons, or hanging around with ducks and geese. If you are an eagle you surround yourself with other eagles because eagles fly high, if you’re an eagle and you are friends with chickens and ducks, you behave like them, you are confused and you have lost your sense of direction. You as a child of God are meant to be flying at new heights, and on this note brothers and sisters, you need to analyse yourself. What type of bird are you on this walk with Christ? Are you an eagle? Are you a chicken? Are you an eagle hanging out with ducks? If you are already an eagle hanging out with other eagles you are very blessed! If you’re an eagle hanging out with chickens and ducks it’s time for you to soar and fly! If you’re a duck or chicken isn’t it time you translate to an eagle? Isn’t it time you start making changes in your life that will enable you to soar? It is time to try new heights! It is time to fly brothers and sisters! We are living in the end times it is time to know where you are going. Have you own sense of direction, be with people that will encourage you on your walk with Christ that will help you fly because I assure you, when the Lord comes and you were not flying at the height that the Lord intended you to, it won’t be a pleasant day for you.

How are pigeons and chickens fed? They wait for someone to throw them some bread of some kind of food. They don’t go and find their own food whereas eagles go and hunt for their own food. They don’t scavenge they go out in search of their own fresh food. Likewise brothers and sisters, food for us is the word of God. Pigeons and chickens wait to get their food at church on Sundays, whilst eagles go out in search of their own food daily. People of God don’t just wait for Sundays to go and feed your soul. Feed your soul every day; look for your own food daily by doing this you undoubtedly strengthen your own soul. Joshua 1:8 says “This Book of Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it”. Let me give you an example, as a human being most of us eat three times or more a day, through this we maintain our health, what if we were eating once a week? How week would we be? We would be beyond starved? Our vital organs won’t be operating as best as they should. Likewise, how do you expect to fly like an eagle which is feeding itself daily when you’re feeding yourself once a week? Brothers and sisters if we read the word of God daily like we feed our human bodies daily, how strong will we be spiritually? I myself am still struggling with this. This Christian walk is not an easy one but we have to persevere. Be encouraged because God has made us overcomers! Through feeding on the word of God on a daily basis, eventually we will fly like eagles. Eagles are ALWAYS on higher ground. It is rare to see an eagle on the ground like a chicken. The more we read the word of God the more we will fly meaning the higher we go til we get to the stage of simply flying a bit and the soaring higher and higher without any efforts. Brothers and sisters in the Christian walk you must never be content with the level that you are at. If you saved 2 souls last year, this year aim to save twice and many if not triple as many. God is a God of might, Job 9:4 says “He is wise in heart and mighty in strength who has hardened himself against him, and succeeded?” The God of might is your father and you are his off spring and you are mighty in the land and you should be doing mighty things, you should be doing the impossible. With the power of God you can do impossible things, arise and soar like an eagle this is your time.

In this way I think it’s necessary that we discuss relationships which hinder our relationship with God. Brothers and sisters you have to realise that not everyone you call your friend is your friend. Us as children of God need to find people who will encourage us that we can also encourage, that we can share the word of God with, people who are going in the same direction as we are. In church they gave an example which went something like this: let’s say on person is standing on a chair (the Christian) and their friend or lover is standing on the ground. If each one of them were trying to bring each other to their own levels who is more likely to succeed? The person on the ground will more than likely achieve in bringing the person on the chair to the ground because it is easier to pull someone down that it is to lift someone up, in this way as Proverbs 12:26 says “The righteous should choose his friends carefully, for the way of the wicked leads them astray”. The bible warns us sternly about relationships with unbelievers.  2 Corinthians 6:14 says that “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?” – Through this verse it is clear that we need to be careful who we become yoked with, be careful who you become friends with, it is said if you want to know who someone really is, look at 5 of their closest friends and you will know their true characters, I don’t know how true this is but I know that when you become close friends with someone a soul tie is formed and the issue of soul ties is a very large one so we will discuss this in the future in a lot more detail. Romans 16:17-18 says “Now I urge you brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.” Avoid those who cause divisions in church and even in everyday life. Be with like-minded people who are flying like eagles. Seek out future bearers who will take you where you want to be, not people who will constantly keep you in the past. People who live in the past have no hope of a future. They have no vision for the future and the bible warns us on people with no vision. Proverbs 29:18 says that “Where there is no revelation [or prophetic vision], the people cast of restraint; but happy is he who keeps the law”. People of God eagles have sharp vision. They look where they are going not where they are coming from. Don’t give up on your dreams just because you don’t see a way there. Take heart and take on the characteristics of an eagle! Eagles don’t give up they go through what they need to in order to complete the journey. Have spiritual vision!  Separate yourself from people that are not flying. Set high standards for yourself be a principled person. Separation will always come with consequences usually painful consequences. Through separation you leave your comfort zone. You leave what you once called home; you step into a whole different ball game, but take heart and know that this separation will only take you to a different level. How do you expect to succeed in flying if you don’t take the first jump that will test out your wings? As Deuteronomy 32:11 says “As an eagle stirs up its nest.” How does an eagles stir up its nest? It builds its nest high on top of some of the world’s tallest trees and as the eaglets grow up, the eagle starts pulling apart its nest so that when the time comes, the eaglets fall through the nest and begin flying. The eagle builds its nest on such high trees because it needs to teach its children to fly at high altitudes.

  1. This women conference must have been very inspirational from what I have read here. I held a women conference in Jamaica last year June at our church, and it was the first for many of the women there, like you have mentioned for yourself at this conference. However, it’s wonderful you’re able to inspire others from what you have gained.

I used to be an eagle flying with chickens and other birds, but God separated me. I had to have a willingness to be separated, so I could soar to greater heights. I didn’t see it then, that I was flying around with other birds, until God brought me out.

Thanks for sharing. God bless you my dear, as you continue to soar as an eagle.

    1. It was really inspirational I tell you. From the day I heard this message my life began to change, it gave me a sense of direction. God is a good God, he does great and mighty things.

Like you I came to the realization that I’m an eagle surrounded by chickens and ducks but now I know I have been separated at such a time as now for a mighty purpose. God is so good.

Stay blessed and highly favoured, continue to labour for the Lord for it is not in vain!

  2. So if we are to fly as eagles high above and I understand that. When do we as great eagles come to the other birds to offer our wisdom so that they may fly as eagles themselves.
