Memory Verses : 21 July 2014

The first memory verse I that stood out in my heart when I was reading the word yesterday was:

Matthew 6:19-20 which states “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal

These bible verses really stood out to me because a lot of people these days work so hard to make their humanly lives perfect, forgetting that we are all spiritual being having a human experience. ( In 1 Thessalonians 5:23 it states that we have a  spirit, soul and a body). Brothers and sisters merely working to make your human life better without the presence of God is sheer vanity. For it is better to be homeless and penniless with the presence of God that to have all the treasures of the earth and not know who God is.

In my view people invest all or too much of their time, money and energy they have into making their homes beautiful, driving the fanciest cars and trying to be the wealthiest (I am also guilty of this). There is no problem with having a beautiful home, driving the best car and being the wealthiest, however the problem occurs when people forget the source of all these things. Brothers and sisters you must realise that no matter who you are, where you came from, how wealthy you or your family  are, how educated you are, even what religion you are, God is the sources of all your success! God is the reason why you are where you are. Therefore work hard in life to receive what your heart desires but don’t ever forget to work harder for the Kingdom of God and to do the will of God for it is better for you to lose your life to Christ than to find your life to yourself because in Christ you have all you can ever ask or think of. Plus after all never forget that our physical body passes away. Death is inevitable for all, physical death is guaranteed for all that are born. It is when your physical body die that your spirit foes to the Father (or not). You see, the problem with death is that not only is it a certain event in all our lives, but we don’t know when it is. Death is usually unexpected. I don’t know if any of you watch crime shows such as the First 48 Hours but it’s one of my favourite shows and on all episodes I have watched, all the victims of murder never expected to die the day they died. They never expected that they won’t see tomorrow. As a matter of fact most of the victims had wonderful plans for the future. The saddest of episodes I watch on this show are the ones where the victim was a drug dealer or a drug addicted person and they had plans to change their life in the future or to get right with God, but they never had the chance and was killed thinking they still have a chance to change. How painful it is for me as a lover of Christ to know that there are people out there that are dying in sin when they had the chance to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. In Romans 6:23 the word of God says that “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”  Brothers and sisters, the time is NOW, time is running out. If you would like to be saved by Jesus Christ just say this prayer out loud and mean it with all your heart:

Prayer of Salvation:

Father God, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge that I have sinned against you and that I am sorry for my sins and the life of unbelief that I have lived. Father please forgive me.

I believe that you sent your only begotten son Jesus Christ to shed is precious blood on the cross and he died for my sins. You said in your word in Romans 10:9 that “If we confess to the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead we shall be saved”.

Right now I confess Jesus as the Lord of my soul and with my heart I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Saviour and according to his word, right now I am saved.

Thank you Jesus for your unlimited grace which has saved me from my sins. Lord transform my life so that I may bring glory and honour to you alone and not myself.

Thank you Jesus for dying for me and giving me eternal life. In Jesus’ name amen.

Now that you are saved you need to join a bible based church and read the word of God daily. After joining the church you will also want to get water baptised to show your obedience to God. Water baptism is a symbol of your salvation from death. You were dead spiritually now you are alive through Jesus Christ our Lord. May God give you the thirst mentioned in Psalm 42:1 which states “As the deer pants for the water brooks, so pants my soul for you, O God“.

43 Day Bible Reading Challenge!

So, as some of you know I have tried to read the whole bible a few times, and having  failed each time I decided to give up altogether and just read it at church or when my heart desires at home. However after reading Craig Kanalley account of how reading the bible changed his life, I think I am going to give it another shot. Not to mention that also through reading the word I’ll be getting closer to the Utmost High! (That is ALWAYS a bonus)

So below is my 43 Day reading challenge which in Jesus name I will not fail at this time! If you’re wondering why I made it a 43 Day challenge then wonder no more I made it 43 days just to be random !

So this is the plan; I will read the chapters listed below on the specific dates listed and also at the end of each day I will post a minimum of 2 memory verses and why I decided to make them my memory verses! I declare right now in the name of Jesus that through reading his word in the challenge below my life will be changed. After Day 43 by faith I will be posting a testimony of what occurred or changed in the time of the challenge
